Technology

Based on the Otto cycle lean burn principle, fuel and air are premixed and burned at a relatively high air / fuel ratio; a concept already widely used on mid-speed engines.

The introduction of low speed dual fuel (X-DF) engines using LNG, admitted at low pressure and ignited by a low volume of liquid pilot fuel, was a breakthrough in the marine industry.

WinGD has applied extensive gas engine expertise and experience to its low speed engines – an initiative that extends the benefits of X-DF technology to the entire marine industry. This technology has been shown to be effective over more than 1,000,000 hours of operation from a variety of vessel types.
