The Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands and the Turks and Caicos Islands Port Authority announced the signing of the contract (Tender TR21/37, contract number TCIPA 05/21) with Coastal and Marine Design Build Ltd. for the construction and installation of a modern boat slip at Bellefield Landing, North Caicos.

The project begins immediately and will provide a new wharf for ferry services and slipways to moor ten vessels, with lengths up to 50 feet. The new boat ramps will consist of a floating dock with a concrete deck, polyethylene floats and an aluminum frame that will replace the makeshift wooden boat ramps currently used at the port facility. . The new boat ramps will improve safety for residents traveling to Providenciales via the port and for tourists visiting North Caicos and Middle Caicos from Providenciales.

The construction of the modern boat ramps complements several other projects the Port Authority is currently implementing at Bellefield Landing: construction of the Port Office/Welcome Center and dredging of the port turning basin and channels of Bellefield Landing.

The project supports the goal of promoting prosperity and sustainable livelihoods in North Caicos and Middle Caicos. This project aligns with several goals of the People’s Plan for Progress:- Transform TCI through inclusive growth, in particular Goal 9: Resilient infrastructure, innovation and industry and Goal 11: Sustainable, inclusive, safe and resilient communities ; as well as Objective 3 (Resilient Ports) of the Port Authority’s Strategic Plan (2019-2022/3).
