27e The International Conference and Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan” (OGT-2022) will be held from October 26 to 28, 2022 in Ashgabat. The conference is organized by State Concerns “Turkmengas”, “Turkmenebit” and the Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with Turkmen Forum and UK-based GaffneyCline.

The aim of the conference and expo is to enhance regional dialogue on the pursuit of sustainable energy sector development, examine the latest trends in the global regional energy system and expand opportunities to attract foreign direct investment in the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan. New to this year’s event is the Expo, which will run alongside the conference and showcase the best highlights from the domestic and global oil and gas industries, invigorated with new ideas and features to match the current agenda. Of the industry. New elements introduced at this year’s Expo will emphasize the importance of accelerating cooperation between IOCs and NOCs, reinforcing the growing role of mutually beneficial partnerships.

Participation and business meetings on the sidelines of this conference and exhibition will be an excellent platform for establishing business contacts as well as raising awareness among potential partners about new investment projects in energy, energy and gas complexes of Turkmenistan.

The Conference agenda is focused on discussing issues such as:

  • the future of energy: challenges and opportunities;
  • offshore and onshore investment opportunities in the Turkmenistan oil and gas sector;
  • energy of the new era: prospects for national and regional development;
  • environmental aspects of hydrocarbon developments;
  • innovative technologies and know-how in the field of oil and gas science and education;

Turkmenistan is a major player in the global energy market. The country is one of the states with huge reserves of hydrocarbon raw materials and one of the leading energy countries in the world. Turkmenistan holds the fourth largest proven reserves of natural gas in the world, after Russia, Iran and Qatar. The wealth of Turkmen mineral resources was clearly confirmed by the international audit of the Galkynysh, Yashlar and Garakel gas fields, whose reserves are estimated at 27.4 trillion cubic meters of gas.

The main volumes of Turkmen natural gas supply are transported to the People’s Republic of China through three lines (A, B and C) of the transnational gas pipeline “Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan – China”. In addition, deliveries are made in the northern direction to the Russian Federation and in the southern direction to the Republic of Azerbaijan via the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The “Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India” (TAPI) gas pipeline project is at the implementation stage. Despite the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and consequent changes in global markets, TAPI countries continue to support the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India Gas Pipeline Project. The 1,853 km pipeline will transport up to 33 BCMAs of natural gas from the Galkynysh gas field in Turkmenistan to three off-take points in Afghanistan, three off-take points in Pakistan and a final off-take point at the Pakistan-Istanbul border. India to supply the Indian market. The linear part of the Turkmen section of the TAPI gas pipeline is being commissioned.

Turkmenistan pays great attention to attracting foreign direct investment. Currently, within the framework of the production sharing agreements concluded, a number of foreign companies, such as “Dragon Oil (Turkmenistan) Ltd”, “Eni Turkmenistan Limited”, “PETRONAS”, “CNPC” and many others produce onshore hydrocarbons in the Balkan region and offshore fields in the Caspian Sea of Turkmenistan. This year’s conference will focus on attracting investments for the development of hydrocarbon resources in the onshore and offshore blocks of the Turkmenistan sector of the Caspian Sea.

Cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan reached an important milestone with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan on the joint exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources of the Dostluk field in the The Caspian sea. The successful joint development of this field will significantly increase the hydrocarbon export potential of the Caspian region.

Along with the export of natural gas by pipeline, Turkmenistan is currently focusing on the deep processing of natural gas. In recent years, several gas-chemical complexes have been commissioned, and in the near future several more are expected to be built in order to manufacture value-added goods in high demand in world markets.

After the two-year break, OGT 2022 will welcome delegates in person to Ashgabat. For the convenience of international delegates, a round-trip charter flight from Dubai to Ashgabat will be arranged. The conference will also be available in online format via the zoom platform. Meetings on the sidelines of the conference with senior management in the Turkmenistan oil and gas sector will also be available in person and online.

Top management and representatives of Turkmen state organizations and major international oil and gas companies, as well as major international financial institutions are expected to attend the conference and exhibition.
