Relax and enjoy a 1-hour sightseeing river cruise aboard the Wm. B. Tennison, a bugeye built of logs. The capacity can accommodate 40 guests. In case of bad weather, you will be warned by the crew before the cruise. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 5-12. Friday July 1 – Sunday July 3 – Maritime Art and Artifacts Exhibition 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., daily

The Calvert County Arts Council and Calvert Marine Museum will sponsor an exhibit of maritime art and artifacts to celebrate the treasures of the Chesapeake Bay area. Explore the maritime culture and natural history of the Chesapeake Bay first-hand through artistic interpretations and specific examples of marine life. Weather permitting, local artists may choose to set up an easel to paint or draw on site and visitors will have the opportunity to purchase selected artwork. Included with museum admission.

Fridays July 1, 15 & 29 – Dee of St. Mary Sunset Sail (adults only) 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Join us for a 2-hour evening aboard the historic ship Dee of St. Mary and experience the Patuxent River aboard an iconic Chesapeake Bay bonito. Guests will have the opportunity to help raise and lower the sail. These Friday night cruises are for adults only and you are welcome to BYOB. The capacity can accommodate 30 guests. Saturdays July 2 and 23 – Dee of St. Mary Public Sailing 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Join us for a 2-hour public sail aboard the historic vessel Dee of St. Mary and experience the Patuxent River aboard an iconic Chesapeake Bay bonito. Guests will have the opportunity to help raise and lower the sail. The capacity can accommodate 30 guests. In case of bad weather, you will be warned by the crew before the cruise. The cost is $35 for ages 13 and up; $15 for children 5 to 12 years old. Children under 5 years old are not allowed. Tuesdays, July 5 and 19 – Things That Bloom & Buzz by the Bay 10 a.m. – noon

Join CMM educators for a morning of plant and pollinator exploration, crafts, stories and fun. We will explore the Calvert Marine Museum Children’s Garden, plant flower or vegetable seeds for your garden, take a nature walk, read stories and identify things that bloom and buzz around the bay. Wednesdays July 6 and 20 – Fossil Adventure Days 10 a.m. – noon

Participants are dropped off at the Cove Point Lighthouse, where they will meet CMM educators. The program leader teaches a short lesson about local Miocene fossils and what to look for along the beach. From 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., you will explore the beach in search of fossilized shells, bones and shark teeth. After collecting fossils, work with museum educators to identify the fossils you have found. The program ends at noon. For 8 to 12 year olds. Cost $10. Capacity is limited. Thursdays July 7 and 14 – Jets de mer 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

Children from 18 months to 3 years old, accompanied by an adult, are invited to discover the museum together through music, stories and special activities. Join us for a story hour and craft to go, available while supplies last. Sessions last 25 to 40 minutes. Register at the admissions office upon arrival. This month’s theme is The Sharks!

Fridays July 8 and 22 – Summertime Blues 10 a.m. – noon

Join a CMM History Educator William B. Tennison for a hands-on blue crab educational experience. This youth field program uses live blue crabs to illustrate their life cycle and how to identify male and female crabs. Discover the history of blue crab fishing on the Patuxent River and learn the ins and outs of our annual blue crab harvest. Participants must be accompanied by an adult for the trip. The cost is $20 – Includes 1 participating child and 1 accompanying adult. The capacity limit of the boat is 40 people. For 8 to 12 year olds. Capacity is limited. Saturday July 9 – Sharkfest! 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Celebrate all things shark, all day, at CMM! Live sharks will be displayed in the Corbin Pavilion for viewing. Learn fascinating “sharktoids”, examine evidence of prehistoric sharks and take a photo in the life-size jaws of a megalodon shark. Food and drinks will be on sale on site. Complimentary museum passes will not be honored and strollers or carts are not permitted in the museum for SHARKFEST. Museum admission applies; members are FREE. Saturday July 16 – BROTHERS OSBORNE with opener ASHLAND CRAFT in concert LIVE seven – 10 p.m.

Maryland native duo Brothers Osborne will take the stage as part of their We are not for everyone at the PNC Waterside Pavilion at the Calvert Marine Museum! Hailing from South Carolina, Ashland Craft will open at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. with food and drink vendors on site. Wednesday, July 20 – CMM Members Save 20% in the Museum Shop

Museum members get a 20% discount in the Museum Shop today and on the 20th of every month. Museum store staff also offer private Zoom sessions for a unique virtual shopping experience. Purchases can be shipped via USPS, Priority Mail or held at the store for curbside pickup

Thursdays, July 21 and 28 – Petits Minnows 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

Preschoolers ages 3-5, accompanied by an adult, are invited to join us for story time and a craft that you can make on site or take home, available until exhaustion of stocks. Sessions last 25 to 40 minutes. Register at the admissions office upon arrival. This month’s theme is The Sharks!

Saturday July 23 – Construction of toy boats 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Build a wooden toy boat under the Corbin Nature pavilion! Space and materials are limited. Visitors will be welcomed on a first come, first served basis. From 5 years. Sponsored by the Patuxent Small Craft Guild. Admission to the museum required, with a suggested donation of $2 per boat.

Saturday, July 30 – Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Music for the Maryland Tour 7 p.m.

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will perform at the PNC Waterside Pavilion as part of their Music for the Maryland Tour. Led by conductor Jonathan Rush, the Orchestra will perform the work of Jonathan Leshnoff Dancing Blue Crabs! to commemorate the importance of the Maryland Blue Crab to Calvert County.
